While live music around the world has been put on hold since March 2020, the Gary Moore Belfast statue fundraising shows were caught up in the midst and have been postponed until April 2021.

The Belfast Empire show is confirmed for Friday April 16th 2021, and The Dublin show at The Button Factory is confirmed for the following night, Saturday April 17th 2021.   A 3rd Gig for Gary fundraising show in June 2021 will soon be announced for L’Derry, in Northern Ireland.

The target goal for Gary’s memorial statue is €75,000 which includes siteworks, architecture & engineering, construction of foundations, specialised transport from the foundry on the UK mainland to Belfast. There will be 5 construction stages of €15,000 each, and construction stage 1 will commence as soon as funds are raised for that stage. The staged approach to construction will ensure that work starts as soon as possible, and as works progresses the remainder of the funds will be raised.

Although the live fundraising shows have been postponed for 2020, the project is going full steam ahead with plenty of work being done behind the scenes by the capable statue team (which includes Gary’s youngest sister Patricia) to obtain council approval, establish teeshirt fundraising campaigns which will continue throughout the year.   With €5,500 raised so far from the project launch Gig for Gary in Belfast in April 2019 plus teeshirt sales, and direct cash donations, the project is already well on the way to acheiving it’s target goal of less than 4 years to see Gary’s statue standing proud in Belfast.

With the immense help of statue team member Alex McGreevy, from www.sonof71.com promotional videos have been made by superstar friends of Gary’s, Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy, along with Doug Aldrich with more promo videos to be released over the year ahead.

Gary’s superfans around the world area also rallying together in a Facebook group created specially for them, to show their support for Gary and the statue project.

Fundraising teeshirts can only be found on the official fundraising merch page here at www.garymoorestatue.com and also at www.gigforgary.com. The teeshirts are despatched by Streetshirts UK to anywhere in the world.
